and if you don't... you just don't do it

Rn my tulpas don't want to switch unless there's something to do once switched... so I guess we're not going to attempt switching for a bit
Avatar
Yeah, it's a good approach to switching.

btw kitkat are you a tulpa or the host? Im asking because a lot of hosts use tuppers for themselves
9:43 PM
not a lot but there is a significant amount of people who do it
9:44 PM
Im just curious

oh really?
9:55 PM
I like having me headmates >:)
Avatar
KiTkAt( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧ BOT 1/16/2023 9:58 PM
i had a brief moment (a few hours) when I felt like one person, and it was the most amazing moment in my life. it felt incredible to be whole, way better than i expected. since then I'm working towards final fusion
9:59 PM
and at this point i don't have much sentiment for having headmates, because i know that even after fusing i could very easily get headmates
9:59 PM
i'm still pretty fractured
Avatar
I think most of tulpamancers feel like one person for most of the time anyway.

i wish in did community there was more positivity about final fusion. not everyone is in place of their life to do it, but because everyone is so negative about it people just automatically think it's something really bad to happen (i believed that because of the community too, until i had the experience i mentioned before)

I know I do and I create my tulpas to be fully fledged people as well

I didnt know the did community is so negative about fusion. I didnt even know final fusion was a thing lol
Avatar
in my opinion tulpamancers should not try to abandon the ability to feel like one whole person because that can potentially cause more self-inflicted problems and alternative to it would be to just have something like a systemsona if the above doesn't feel right
Avatar
systemsona?
Avatar

@rain - jump well yeah final fusion is one of the goals of therapy a patient can take
Avatar
I also think that tulpamancers should not forget about being ultimately a one person... But I don't know why people should bother with having a systemsona.
Avatar
interesting
10:04 PM
what is a systemsona?
Avatar

@Alejandro - jump a lot of tulpamancers don't like the idea of ultimately being one person. i think a systemsona is a second best thing for people like that
10:05 PM
what is a systemsona?
Avatar
what is a systemsona?
@rain - jump you can view it in different ways, for example it's a headmate/identity that represents whole system and identifies with it
Avatar
A sona for your system I'm guessing. Not sure exactly what that means though...
Avatar
or like all headmates merging briefly
Avatar
I think making a systemsona for that kind of purpose is just admitting not understanding.
Avatar
Yea, I thought it was a identity that represented the system. A brief merge is interesting though. I wonder if a headmate could represent that merge as well.
10:07 PM
I don't think the headmate version would really count as 'one person' though
Avatar
I think making a systemsona for that kind of purpose is just admitting not understanding.
@Alejandro - jump well i think that might be considered patronising by people not agreeing with your view
Avatar
I'm not the one advertising them needing something like a systemsona.
Avatar
i'm not advertising anything
10:10 PM
some people spend a lot of effort for personal growth that changes their beliefs and view of who they are and view of their mind, and it can go to the point that they actually experience not being one person at all on any level, and suggesting otherwise can be faced with strong reaction
Avatar
Hmm... I can see Alejandro's initial comment seeming a bit rude, but I also don't know how beneficial or negative having something like a 'systemsona' would be
10:11 PM
I think we need more info tbh
Avatar
Sorry if it sounded rude, it wasn't my intention.
Avatar
that's ok
Avatar
But yeah, I am also curious what benefits would having a systemsona give to people who can't see themselves as one person.
Avatar
I personally view my tulpas as seperate from me in a way
Avatar
this also serves as a reminder that I am not them and they are not me
10:17 PM
and allows for more development
10:19 PM
like the more developed ones do feel like alter egos sometimes but their personalities and demeanors are different enough from mine
Avatar
there are some dynamics in a system that can be self-inflicted dysfunctions, here are a few: -tulpas feeling they are missing a lot of life because they only get a few hours a week to front, it causes real distress -tulpamancers after some time start manipulating their self image unknowingly, causing body dysmorphia -because for some people identity gets so fluid and they spend so much time wonderlanding, they stop identifying with their name those things would definitely not be present if people considered to be ultimately one person, but it's not always the case. having a systemsona that stays identifying with the body, given name and to consider to be all headmates at once would solve all those problems
10:21 PM
of course it's not happening to all tulpamancers, and i don't even think it happens to most of them, but i think a safety valve like that would be useful for people
Avatar
(Lol, I just thought of Perfect Cell from DBZ as a systemsona)

first of all, in my system it is established that when Im not talking to my tulpas they are doing their own thing in wonderland somewhere. this resolves the issue of "not enough fronting". second of all, I must admit, I was a victim of the last point in the beginning of my journey...
10:23 PM
I went by a different name with my tulpas and even imagined myself looking different
10:23 PM
but at one point I got burned out and erased my tulpas' memories of the alter ego I had created
10:24 PM
they started calling me by my real name
10:24 PM
and I was able to finally be myself
Avatar
i'm glad you managed to work through that
Avatar
That sounds... like an unpleasant journey
10:24 PM
Yeah, glad you made it through
Avatar

I can't see how it applies to this problem at all.
-tulpamancers after some time start manipulating their self image unknowingly, causing body dysmorphia -because for some people identity gets so fluid and they spend so much time wonderlanding, they stop identifying with their name
But yeah, it might be helpful for these ones if the host becomes separated from body. I'd like to mention the fact that the problem here is related to no identity being associated with a body rather than people not seeing themselves as a one person. It's enough for the host (or maybe one of tulpas) to associate themselves with the body to prevent these problem. Seeing oneself as more than one person is not necessarily their source.

Avatar
it wasnt really unpleasant tbh. it was just me plain fucking lying to myself about who I was
Avatar
Fair I guess. I just thought erasing memories seemed pretty unpleasant, and also lying to yourself
Avatar
right I will share one more detail
10:26 PM
I had a sibling tulpa
10:26 PM
had to get rid of him
Avatar
why?
Avatar
like the "i dont feel so good" way
10:27 PM
because it was a necessary step
10:27 PM
to start living in reality
Avatar
and a tulpa being your sibling was an obstacle?
10:28 PM
I wanted to live in my actual family the way it was
Avatar
I consider some of my tulpas my siblings so it's kinda disheartening to hear. But well, I could understand that could put a wall between you and your real family.
10:30 PM
well I understand how you feel
Avatar
Well, what's right for one person doesn't have to be right for another one.
10:30 PM
We all should make our own choices on that.
10:31 PM
well my "main" tulpa thomas is like a brother to me sooo
10:31 PM
guess there was no loss there :^)
10:32 PM
I prefer to call him my best friend tulpa
10:32 PM
I have a tulpa bestie and a real bestie lol
Avatar
That's cool
Avatar
fun fact, I intentionally integrated my tulpas into the real world so I dont lose touch with reality (edited)
Avatar
Oh? How?
Avatar
and so that the transition from talking to my tulpas to talking to real people wouldnt be so jarring
10:34 PM
I like made them live in the real world with me
Avatar
do you mean that you imposed their presence in the real world?
Avatar
You impose them in real world? That's okay too but from my point of view it makes it more confusing than keeping reality and fantasy separated.

I created my tulpas because I had no actual contact with my peers at the time so I needed them to be as realistic as possible
10:37 PM
that included them living in the real world
10:38 PM
Im actually intrigued by tulpas that are mythical creatures tbh
10:39 PM
all my tulpas are just average joes
Avatar
Some people prefer fully immersing themselves in fantasy to imitating real world in their imagination. (edited)
Avatar
the only challenge is that by tulpamancing in the real world, I have to find ways to be discreet about it
10:40 PM
because it includes talking to tulpas in public
Avatar
You can't talk to them silently, in your mind?
